He doesn't have a good strike rate in the 8:15, with 5 runners and no winners. So Beat The Tide could be a worry. Caspian Piper looks their best chance. Anne Duffield likes winning at this particular Ripon meeting, with 11 runners and 5 winners. She only has one runner today. The thing is, at this meeting she either has a winner or they come at the back of the field, there is no inbetween.  She also is better with a non handicap race, and this is a handicap. 3.55 George Dryden 25/1 3. 1st Solway Dornal 14/1 - 80 2nd Trafficker 11/2 - 75 3rd Caspian Piper 9/1 - 55 Nothing separating the top 2 here. Solway Dornal caught my eye first, all his wins have come in this class, and he drops back down to it after racing well in class 4. His last win was in this class. He has come 2nd over C&D before, and i think he has strong place claims here, could possibly win as well. Trafficker is 6lb under his last winning and dropping in Grade. Surely he should go well, but the thing is, he hasn't been running well for his new connections. Is however a C&D winner, and is being heavily backed, so maybe he is fancied. He has the potential to win, but can he? Caspian Piper has Richard Johnson on board again, and they have teamed up for both his career wins, an he is well handicapped, so should go well. 7:40 Newmarket - Thahab Ifraj 15/8 Not a fan of Newmarket evenings as you all know, mainly because its not a meeting the most consistent horses are sent. There is no good form of many of them, expect possibly this one, and the price does reflect this. He came back after 215 days off the track, to record a solid 3rd at Salisbury. Obviously now he will be race fit after that run, but also tht race has produced several winners from the back of that race. Third Rock, who came in just in front of Thahab Ifraj, went on to win in a higher class in his next race. Ejayteekay who was well beaten by TI, went on to also win a race in a higher class. The winner has won again and came 2nd since as well. The only worry is that, the 2 winners he had, had raced before and today's horse comes with no runs under his belt.
